The Destined RV'er Goes to South Dakota: What's in South Dakota?

Hey Fellow Wonderlusters!

Check out this incredible journey through South Dakota's Black Hills! After I left Badlands NP, I couldn't pass through the state without stopping in to visit the iconic Mount Rushmore, and trust me, it's even more breathtaking in person than in the pictures!

As you approach, the anticipation builds, and suddenly, there they are – the massive faces of four American presidents carved into the mountain. It's a true symbol of American pride and history.

Strolling along the Avenue of Flags, you can't help but feel a sense of awe and admiration for the incredible craftsmanship that went into creating this national treasure. And the evening lighting ceremony? Oh my gosh, it's downright magical! Watching the faces illuminate against the night sky is an unforgettable experience that fills you with a sense of patriotism.

Next up was the awe-inspiring Crazy Horse Monument. As you drive closer, the sheer size of the sculpture will leave you in awe. It's a testament to the determination and dedication of its creators.

Learning about the life of Crazy Horse and the vision behind this tribute to Native American culture is truly humbling. Plus, the museum offers a wealth of information about the region's rich indigenous history. It's inspiring to see how this ongoing work of art is preserving the heritage for generations to come. And the best part?

Your visit helps support the monument's continuation – talk about a win-win!

Now, let's head into the historic town of Deadwood. As you wander through the charming streets, it's like stepping back in time to the Wild West days.

The stories of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane come alive as you visit the museums and catch live reenactments. And for those feeling lucky, the casinos are a thrilling way to try your hand at some games – just like the old-time prospectors did back in the day! Deadwood's unique blend of history, entertainment, and scenic beauty will captivate you.

Whether you're a history buff, nature lover, or just looking for an unforgettable adventure, these three destinations in the Black Hills have something for everyone. So grab your travel buddies, hit the road, and immerse yourself in the wonders of Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Monument, and the charming town of Deadwood. Happy travels, and remember, it's all about the journey and the memories you create along the way!
